My yoga practice began at the age of eight in Jamshedpur, India. My brother enrolled me in yoga class as a way to teach me about discipline. In the beginning, my body was so inflexible that I was not able to do any postures. I always dreaded going to classes. Other classmates would give me a hard time and tell me that I would never be able to do yoga. I took their words as a challenge. I practiced every day ever since then until I felt I had mastered each and every asana.

As time passed, the physical practice of yoga turned into something more; it became a spiritual path. As my body began to soften, my heart, mind and attitude also began to soften. In 2000, I faced with various hardships. I turned to yoga for peace and guidance through these times. When everything in the outside world was being turned upside down and falling down on me, yoga was the only thing that grounded me and offered serenity.

In 2005, I decided to dedicate my life to yoga. I was certified in Hatha Yoga from the Sports Authority of India in Patiala, Punjab, India. I also went on to continue my studies and fulfilled my postgraduate degree in yogic studies from Nalanda Open University in Patna, Bihar, India. I hope to give my students what yoga has given me: serenity, tranquility and an open and receptive heart. My classes are filled with fun, creative and unique sequences. I hope to teach students that yoga is not just a daily physical practice, it is a lifestyle. The patience, strength and discipline learned on the mat can be applied in all aspects of life off the mat.

I offer my deepest respect and gratitude to my teachers, Prabir Karmakar and C.K Mishra, who have guided me for over twenty years and helped plant my feet onto my yogic path.

When one does asanas with correct alignment and anatomical reflection then it becomes easier to synchronize breath and mind with it. Knowing the anatomy of the body is an added benefit as a yoga teacher. Important human anatomy that use in your daily practice & teaching will be taught by experience teacher in this 300-hr program.

Apart from the physical anatomy the patterns of internal energies found in each posture. The ancient yogis described in vast details a system of energetic being that could be consciously cultivated, elaborating a complex system of scientific medicine with theories of anatomy and physiology that are at once mystical, symbolic, and practical. The Vayus, Prana and their differences will be mentioned in the class. Yoga Philosophy:

Yoga Philosophy means ‘Darshan Shastra’ that is ‘ability to see the things directly’. All the scriptures or books written on yoga philosophy are the devices or techniques to take you in the present moment and be the master of your mind. Have you ever wondered “Who am I, where is the self, or what is my relationship with the whole cosmos”? These are the major topics in Yoga Philosophy. It not only deepens our asana practice but also broadens our understanding of essence of Yoga. It is not the amount of action but the depth of experience that makes a life rich and fulfilling. In this training we will introduce The Ramayana, The Mahabharata & Vedanta. Then we gave introductions few chapters of classic yogic texts such as The Bhagavad Gita and Yoga Sutra (Chapters 3-4).

Ayurveda:

Ayurveda is the Vedic system developed specifically for healing purposes. Yoga and Ayurveda are two related healing disciplines of India. Each has its unique place and function, but each overlap into the other on various levels. The Ayurvedic view of our embodied nature (body, mind and soul) and how it works, the causes of disease and the treatment of disease are all interconnected in a beautiful, clear, and wonderful system of optimal health and total well-being.

  • Basic concepts of Ayurveda
  • History of Ayurveda
  • Branches of Ayurveda
  • Ayurveda herbal remedies for common ailments
  • Prakruti with Prakruti assesment
  • Ama, Agni
  • Dinacharya
  • Ritucharya
  • Treatment (Practical Training)

Pranayama:

Breathing consciously is one of the most important parts of Hatha Yoga, the fourth stage of Patanjali’s yoga system. Pranayama is the starting point of your inner practice. It is the source of energetic awakening throughout the body. Our life begins & ends with the one same entity, i.e., breath. A fully conscious breath can make us realize the movement of a subtlest living cell in our body. One can understand breath as a connector among all the cells in the body.

Through conscious breathing we open in the asana practice to learning more about ourselves, cultivating wholeness in body, mind and spirit. In this training, pranayama practices will be included in daily practices.

Meditation Techniques:

As part of the beauty of yoga, meditation is the seed that can always immediately blossom into the thousand-petal lotus flower of happiness, wellness, and fullness as an awakened human being. It is both the ultimate form of yoga practice and an integral part of the entire path of discovering, loving, healing, and transforming the totality of one’s being. Meditation is an approach to training the mind, similar to the way that fitness is an approach to training the body. Since meditation experience is extremely personal and indescribable, our goal in this training is to acquire the essential tools in order to develop a solid personal practice, one that will support and nourish us throughout our journey in life.
